Healing Grade Singing Bowls

In the immortal words of KISS…

You wanted the best. You got the best!

These bowls are totally top shelf – the crème de la crème of singing bowls. Every bowl is healing grade. Which means you won’t find a bowl here that I wouldn’t personally use in a sacred sound session. And I’m picky when it comes to singing bowls.

Find out why these aren’t your mother’s singing bowls.

Plus every bowl is 100% guaranteed. You either dig your bowl like an old soul record, or you can return it and get every bit of your money back. I’ll even cover the cost of return shipping.

That’s how much I want you to love your bowl.
And that’s how much these bowls rock.

Dude, how do I play this thing? (a quick how-to video)

Singing bowls, by nature, are capable of producing a wide range of tones. That’s one of a million things that make them so cool. The tones listed for each bowl are the fundamental tones made when sounding the bowl with the padded side of the stick (gong tone) and while singing the bowl around the rim with the wooden side (singing tone). In short, you’ll get a lot more tones out of your bowl than the two listed.

Yeah, that's a ninja.

Update: 08/20Psst! The new bowls are here! And they are gorgeous. I’m recording and photographing them now. They’ll be up soonsoonsoon.

SB134

Age: 100 – 150 years old (see below)

Description:
This nugget of awesome is incredible.

Bright golden patina. Hammer marks that are visible, but heavily smoothed. The inside of this bowl shines like the sun!

This bowl has some really unusual marks around the rim and a cool double ring engraving in the center.

This bowl has a big voice. The felt wrapped mallet brings out a deep wah wah and a mid-range tone that’s clear and steady.

The suede wrapped mallet brings out two more tones – a new mid-range tone and a sweet high tone. Which means this bowl sounds a lot like a choir. Woot!

There’s a really rad rooted thing happening with this bowl. When I play it, I feel like I’ve just plugged in and all systems are go for gorgeousness.

Exact age information wasn’t available, but this bowl is from a collection of old bowls. It has all the characteristics of significant age. It is similar to bowls I have seen that were 100 to 150 years old.

SB138

Size: 5” diameter/2 3/8” deep
Tones: D (gong)/A (singing)
Age: 200 – 250 years old (see below)
Price: $175 SOLD

Description:
I lovelovelove the way this bowl feels when I hold it.

The hammer marks are all but gone. And the bottom is silky smooth. So this bowl has a luxurious vibe going on.

Smooth. And shiny. And fabulous.

It’s thin walls give this bowl some serious staying power. It just sings and sings and sings. Which is awesome – and hard to find – in smaller bowls.

And fortunately it’s singing some sweet songs. The felt wrapped mallet brings out a mid-range wah wah and a really steady super high tone. The leather wrapped mallet highlights a high wah wah in between these other two tones.

This bowl kind of reminds me of a crazy talented jazz singer who’s totally tearing it up and belting out the tunes in front of an open-mouthed-with-awe audience.

This bowl has very light staining, which is pretty awesome given its age.

SB139

Size: 6 1/2” diameter/3 1/2” deep
Tones: F (gong)/C (singing)
Age: 250 – 300 years old (see below)
Price: $250 SOLD

Description:
Ok, this is my favorite type of bowl.

And, honestly, they almost never end up here because I usually snag them. But in the spirit of share-the-awesome I figured I’d actually post this one.

These high walled, flat bottomed bowls are rockstars. They sing forever. And their sound just bounces around in the bowl, making all kinds of gorgeous.

And this bowl is from a group of bowls that are ah-may-zing! I have two in my personal collection. And they rock so hard.

This beauty shows well worn hammer marks along with some super cool engravings. Including a ring of dots around the outer rim and a circle/dot motif in the center. The base is totally smooth due to hundreds of years of being held.

But the best thing about this bowl is the sound. Holy ninjas can this bowl sing!

The felt wrapped mallet gives you a deep, fast wah wah coupled with a mid-range bell tone. It feels like the most fabulous massage ever. The leather wrapped mallet accentuates that bell tone, gives it a sweet wah wah and brings out two higher notes.

And this bowl is super super easy to sing. It even sings with the leather end of the mallet, which is pretty rare. And when you sing it that way it has this sweet, deep soothing sound that’s like a big fuzzy blanket of chocolate.

Can you tell I’m crazy about this bowl?

*ahem*

This bowl has light to moderate staining, which is totally normal for an old bowl.

SB140

Two words: Pure. Love.

Like the SB139, this bowl is fabulous. Like Lady Gaga kind of fabulous.

This bowl has thick, high walls. Which means that when it sings it sings with gusto. You can get some real volume out of this baby. But it can also be played berry berry quietly with the felt wrapped mallet.

Between gonging the bowl with the felt and leather wrapped portions, and singing it with the wooden part of the mallet, this bowl has at least seven different tones going on. A few different wah wahs and some really crisp, sweet high tones that go forever.

And like its buddy above, this bowl is so easy to sing that you can even sing it with the leather wrapped mallet. Woot!

I love the designs on this bowl. There’s a triple ring pattern, complete with a center dot, inside the bowl. And the outside, which shows all  the signs of being a beautiful old bowl, there’s a ring of tiny dots engraved around the rim.

This bowl is pure awesome. Plain and simple. I heart it muchly.

And there’s surprisingly little staining on this bowl, given its age.

Behold the awesome of the Big Bowl!

It’s beeeeeeg! Beeeeeeg!

And awesome. And wow.

I’m not gonna to lie. I was so going to keep this bowl. Then my wife reminded me that I can’t keep keeping the bowls. Because people need them. And there’s no room for more bowls.

Oof.

She’s right.

So here’s the rundown on this chunk of wow.

Huge old bowl. Almost all the hammer marks have disappeared over time. Amazing patina. And just the faintest traces of a single ring engraved about half an inch below the outside rim.

And the sound… whoa.

I can hold this bowl almost a foot away from me and I can still feel the sound of this bowl. Physically. In my body.

Plus it sings forever. With a light thwack it sang for over two whole minutes. (I timed it.)

The felt wrapped mallet brings out four tones. A deep steady tone, a louder mid-range tone with a fast wah wah and two higher tones, one of which wah wahs too.

Gonging the bowl with the leather wrapped mallet brings out three new high tones, while turning up the volume on that middle wah wah.

And when you actually sing the bowl with the leather part of the mallet? You get this big uber deep bass tone that feels like instant zen. A few seconds of that and you’ll feel like you just slept for ten hours.

The other rad thing is that even though this is a big (beeeeeeg!) bowl, it’s surprisingly light for its size. So you can hold it and play forever and not feel like you’ve been power lifting.

There’s very light staining on this bowl, which is totally normal with older bowls.

So, yeah, this bowl is delicious.

And if you’re the lucky person who snags it, send my wife a thank you note.

SB143

Size: 4 3/4” diameter/1 1/2” deep
Tones: C (gong)/G (singing)
Age: 200 – 250 years old (see below)
Price: $110 SOLD

Description:
I was excited to find this fab little bowl.

Because it sounds awesome. And a lot of times these thin low walled bowls sound kind of funky when they’re this small. Kind of metallic. And not very sexy.

But this one rawks.

The leather wrapped mallet brings out the best in this bowl, with three distinct tones showing up – a mid-range wah wah and two high notes that have a cool flutter. As the sound fades the highest tone is the last one you hear. So there’s this focus/clarity/energizing thing going on here.

The bowl has mostly been worn totally smooth over time. There’s very little staining. And this bowl sports some cool engravings, including a mostly there circle of dots on rim itself and a ring of circle/dot patterns in the center.

I also dig this bowl because it’s small. So it’s easy to keep on the desk. Or in your purse. Or in your pockets. If you have freakishly large pockets.

SB144

Price: $225

Description:
This is bowl should be a supermodel. It could be on the cover of Singing Bowls Illustrated. If there was such a thing. (And there totally should be.)

This absolutely gorgeous nugget is a double thick low walled bowl with a slightly flared lip. It has a few engravings, including two inner rings (one in the center and one near the rim) and a triple lined ring engraved near the outside rim.

This bowl also has a schweet light golden color to it, which is due to a higher-than-usual amount of silver content in the bowl.

And this supersized helping of silver gives the bowl that baby-I-could-see-your-name-in-lights quality when it comes to the sound. There’s a mid-range tone that loves to wah wah and a higher tone that starts out steady and then breaks into this cool flutter as it fades.

This bowl reminds me of a songbird. A supermodel songbird. Perched in the tree. Singing its heart out. Pure fabulousness!

There’s very light staining for this bowl, which is awesome given how old it is.

SB146

Size: 8 1/8” diameter/2 3/4” deep
Tones: D (gong)/A (singing)
Age: 250 – 300 years old (see below)
Price: $450 SOLD

Description:
Oh. Mah. Gawd.

The first time I hung out with this bowl I yelled. Loud. Loud enough for my wife to come in to see what my problem was.

No problem. Just a big beautiful bowl with a ton of engraving and a crazy sweet sound that gave me goosebumps when I played it.

Pretty much all of the hammer marks have gone buhbye over time. The bowl has a great patina to it.

And did I mention the engravings? Tons of ‘em!

There are least three distinct inner rings, all of which have mostly disappeared. And between two of the rings is a still-mostly-there circle of dots. There’s also a single dot in the center of the circle, which is awesome.

The rim itself has a cool ring of dots engraved on it. And outside there’s this double-ring-with-dots-in-the-middle thing happening. And these cool marks that I’ve seen associated with plant/leaf patterns before.

When you rock this bowl with the felt wrapped mallet you get the most amazing deep tone with a super slow pulse to it. It’s almost hypnotizing. There’s also this steady mid-range tone that balances the sound like beautifully.

The leather wrapped mallet changes the sound totally. It brings out a mid-tone with a wild wah wah and two other super high tones. The deeper pulse-ey tone is there, but it hangs out in the background a bit.

So it’s kind of like having two bowls in one.

Two gorgeous bowls. That make me yell. Because they rock lots.
