Time it takes to do this: Two minutes
Sacred sound works fast.
It doesn’t require you to go on a weeklong retreat, meditate for three hours, run five miles or do some other something that you have no time (and probably no energy) to do.
Sometimes a minute or two is enough to see stuff shift with sacred sound.
You know when you’re feeling super stressed out, crazy overextended, completely overwhelmed and totally clueless about what to do next?
Yeah, me too.
Have no fear. Sacred sound is here!
This awesome little nugget of sacred sound love clears out all the stuff that’s got you jammed up, helping you to get centered, get clear and to figure out your best next step. All in under 120 seconds.
Booyah!
So let’s do this thing…
Think about what you want to shift.
Usually this doesn’t require too much thought. If you’re stressed, think about the stress going buhbye. If you’re overwhelmed, start there. If you need some clarity, focus on that.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath. And exhale.
Take another deep breath. And this time, as you exhale, sound the word AHHH (like the a in father), drawing the sound out for the length of your exhale.
Repeat this a few more times – breathing in and sounding AHHH while exhaling.
If it helps, you can put your attention on your heart by putting your hand over it, or just thinking about it. If that’s not helpful or feels distracting, skip it. Because it’s totally not necessary.
Keep up this eyes-closed-breathing-exhale-AHHH thing for a minute or two. (Closing your eyes gives your mind a break. Chances are that when you decide to do this exercise your mind could probably use one.)
When you’re finished, open your eyes. Take a second to see how you feel.
Most people find the oh-my-god-I’m-about-to-meltdown feelings have taken off. And everything feels calm and clear. There’s usually a noticeable reduction of tension in the shoulder area, and a really sweet sense of being relaxed and ready for what’s next.
Not a bad tradeoff for two minutes of your time, eh?
So the next time you feel like you’re about to come apart at the seams, give this a shot. You’ll be pretty amazed at how much ick and ack you can shift in two minutes or less.
Know someone who might find this helpful?
Feel free to pass it along.
